DragonFly
Our revolutionary cane, DragonFly, is the result of design-first principles. We believe that folks who will benefit from the cane are the ones who should design and test it. As members of the visually impaired community, our CEO, Dr Van, and our Founder, Dr Rizzo, made DragonFly a reality.
DragonFly has many innovative features and was scientifically tested by Robert Wall Emerson’s world-renowned lab.
Wings
DragonFly has wings that slide and unfold down the shaft of our cane, providing superior protection and ease of use.
We leverage carbon fiber for greater strength and durability while you power through busy sidewalks.
Shaft
DragonFly’s foldable shaft with unique ferrule design provides enhanced tactile feedback to you as you travel along bumps, crevices, and other surface variations.
Better obstacle detection
Dragonfly’s pioneering design offers a push and clear approach that translates into improved obstacle detection compared to the standard white cane.
Dragonfly excelled at detecting smaller objects. In the scientific study, these smaller objects were 2 inches and 6 inches in diameter.
Enhanced drop-off detection
Our world is full of ups and downs like steps and curb drop-offs. With our push and clear method, Dragonfly enables better edge detection compared to the standard cane.
In a scientific study, users were able to more reliably detect drop-offs when using Dragonfly. In addition, they detected shorter drop-offs. The improvement in the detection of short 1 in and 3 in drop-offs was as high as 50%!
Save your joints
Results suggest a number of muscle and joint problems from swinging the standard white cane repetitively. Dragonfly's dynamic platform allows for fewer or no swings and that saves your wrist, elbow and shoulder for when you need to perform at your best.
Efficient travel
Dragonfly's unique design enables it to pop over small uneven ground. This feature prevents you from getting stuck or jammed up and sending the cane into your belly. In fact, we have noted immediate increases in travel efficiency for new users.
